Risk Levels

There have been a lot of people asking me what they can do to travel to Ayamonte in January, the majority have a property here and always fly out in January and stay here for months. As the majority of visitors/residents fly into to Faro,Portugal we will look at both Spanish and Portuguese restrictions. As UK and Ireland have their own restrictions on people travelling abroad you will need to consult those also before travelling.

Portugal

From January 1st 2021 Portugal has a ban on travel by UK nationals to Portugal. This restriction does not apply to people who are legally resident in Portugal. (Please note flying into Faro with Spanish residency (On a British passport) is not an option).

Portuguese nationals, Residency card holders and EU member State visitors are permitted entry but must present a negative PCR which has been carried out no more than 72 hours prior to arrival.

Spain

On December 22nd the Spanish government imposed a ban on any visitor travelling to Spain from the United Kingdom either by air or by sea. The exception to this was Spanish nationals, residency card holders (Green card EU Residence Certificate or new TIE (with photo)). All people travelling must also have a negative PCR, TNA or LAMP test which was carried out in no more than 72 hours prior to arrival. The ban was until 18.00 on 5th January however on January 1st 2021 this ban was extended by the publication in the Official State Bulletin until 6pm on 19th January.

For travellers who comply with the requirements to enter Spain they must have the following information with them when they fly and arrive in Spain.

• Up to date Passport.

• Green card EU Residence Certificate or new TIE

• Negative PCR test done within the last 72 hours (electronic or hardcopy acceptable) • Be able to provide full contact information.

• Have completed Health Control Form (48hours prior to travel) https://www.spth.gob.es/

Please note that the restrictions are for air and sea travel and no restrictions have been laid down for entering the country overland.
