During today’s press conference, the Chief of Defence Staff Miguel Angel Villarroya pointed out that there are a total of 7,753 defence force workers deployed throughout Spain in 284 towns and cities supporting both police and medical staff. The main job the defence force is doing in terms of support apart from the normal defence force activities is disinfecting critical locations, like hospitals, health centres, train stations, airports and nursing homes. Mr Villarroya pointed out that today they had planned the disinfection of 14 hospitals and 138 nursing homes. The Defence force has to date disinfected 1,831 nursing homes and over 3,300 critical installations since the beginning of the state of emergency. The defence force is also involved in the transport of deceased in Madrid due to undertakers being overwhelmed and yesterday they transported 116 victims to the provisional morgue in the Palacio de Hielo in Madrid. The defence force is also involved in moving patients from hospitals to medicalised hotels where they can continue their recovery and yesterday they transported 101 patients.

There has been a total of 8,102 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases is now at 110,238. The number of patients in intensive care is 6,092 and the number of deaths has now reached 10,003. The number of people who have recovered is 26,743.

Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 6,792 confirmed cases of which 3,444 are in hospital and 280 are intensive care. There have been 343 deaths (Malaga 93, Jaen 39, Granada 86, Cordoba 25, Cadiz 19, Seville 57, Almeria 18, Huelva 6). In Seville there are 1,371 cases and 611 of those required hospitalization with 60 in intensive care. There have been 57 deaths while 30 have been cured.

In Andalusia there have been a total of 308 deaths so far. A total 182 patients have now been declared cured.

In Huelva there are 224 cases, this being an increase of 29 new cases today, 115 have been hospitalized with 10 in intensive care. Sadly two more deaths have been reported in Huelva bringing the total to six.
