Dr Fernando Simon Soria, Director of the Centre for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies for the Ministry of Health during a press conference today said that the intensive care units in six autonomous communities are at their limit while another three communities are rapidly reaching capacity. He pointed out that the new stricter measures which come into place on Monday are to try and ensure a margin so that the intensive care units don’t collapse.

There has been a total of 6,546 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases is now at 78,797. The number of patients in intensive care is 4,907 and the number of deaths has now reached 6,528. The number of people who have recovered is 14,709.

Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 4,682 confirmed cases of which 2,294 are in hospital 201 are intensive care and 2,181 are in quarantine and there have been 207 deaths (Malaga 64, Jaen 20, Granada 57, Cordoba 11, Cadiz 9, Seville 30, Almeria 12, Huelva 4). In Seville there are 912 cases with 397 of those in hospital, the remaining 485 are in quarantine in their own homes, 30 deaths while 17 have been cured.

In Andalusia there have been a total of 207 deaths so far and 407 patients have recovered and 148 of these have now been declared cured.

In Huelva there are 131 cases, this being an increase of 11 new cases today, 72 are in hospital and 55 are in quarantine in their own homes. Sadly, there have been two more deaths reported today in Huelva. The good news is that nine have been sent home from hospital and two have been confirmed cured.
