There has been a total of 4,517 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases now at 33,089. The number of patients in intensive care is 2,355 and the number of deaths has now reached 2,182. The number of people who have recovered is 3,355.

Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 1,961 confirmed cases of which 744 are in hospital 77 are intensive care and 1,159 are in quarantine and there have been 58  deaths (Malaga 21, Jaen 5, Granada 17, Cordoba 4, Cadiz 3, Seville 5, Almeria 2, Huelva 1). In Seville there are 351 cases with 152 of those in hospital, the remaining 194 are in quarantine in their own homes, 5 deaths while 5 have been cured.

In Huelva there are 58 cases, this being an increase of 11 new cases today, 29 are in hospital and 28 are in quarantine in their own homes. Sadly, Huelva reports its first death today of a 79-year-old man.

104 patients have now been sent home from hospital in Andalusia to pass the rest of their quarantine in their own homes and there is a total of 77 people in intensive care in all of Andalusia.

The Ministry for Health published some interesting information on the infection of Covid-19 per age group and what was the mortality for each age group taken from a sample of 18,959. The current mortality rate is 6.6% but that is expected to drop as the number of tests increases, the main reason for the high mortality rate is due to many cases going undetected.

Currently over 80 per cent of all deaths in Spain is in people 70 or over, that is not to say that younger people are not at risk but more to say extra precaution needs to be taken to not spread the virus to this age group.
