Dr Fernando Simon Soria, Director of the Centre for Coordination of Health Alerts and Emergencies for the Ministry of Health during a press conference today said “If we are not peaking I think we are very close. However, reaching the peak does not mean we can relax the measures taken. We need to limit the contact between people and follow a protocol that if a member of a family shows symptoms they self-isolate in a separate room”.
There has been a total of 7,937 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases is now at 47,610. The number of patients in intensive care is 3,166 and the number of deaths has now reached 3,437. The number of people who have recovered is 5,367.
Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 3,010 confirmed cases of which 1,433 are in hospital 116 are intensive care and 1,464 are in quarantine and there have been 113 deaths (Malaga 40, Jaen 14, Granada 25, Cordoba 6, Cadiz 4, Seville 18, Almeria 5, Huelva 1). In Seville there are 535 cases with 261 of those in hospital, the remaining 256 are in quarantine in their own homes, 18 deaths while 6 have been cured.
In Andalusia there have been a total of 113 deaths so far and 62 have been men and 51 women. 194 patients have recovered and 71 of these have now been declared cured.
In Huelva there are 77 cases, this being an increase of 7 new cases today, 42 are in hospital and 34 are in quarantine in their own homes. The good news is that three have been sent home from hospital and another two have been confirmed cured.
