A ventilator called “Andalucia Repira / Andalusia breathes” which has been designed by a number of professionals in Andalusia has passed its second test on a real patient in the Virgen de las Nieves hospital in Granada. Earlier the same ventilator had passed laboratory tests and its first human trial on a patient in a Hospital in Antequera, Malaga. The ventilator which can be built within two hours has two more tests to pass before it can be certified for use in Andalusian hospitals. The first is a test to make sure it does not cause any inference with other machines in intensive care (electromagnetic) and another test will be a stress test over 48 hours. The news comes after Hersill the main producer of ventilators in Spain has confirmed that it will now produce 100 ventilators a day, when they normally produce 10 a day. The company based in Mostoles in Madrid was established in 1973 and will produce 5000 ventilators for use all over Spain in April.
