Happy New Year to all InfoAyamonte readers, I hope that 2021 brings health and happiness and of course a visit to our beautiful town.

To close off the year I just wanted to review how we coped with the pandemic compared to all the towns surrounding Ayamonte. If you want to read just todays update skip to the paragraphs below.

All the data has been taken for the Junta de Andalusia website and the numbers are for positives cases declared with a positive PCR Test. Only 2.2% of all the inhabitants of Huelva have been infected by the virus sadly that has caused 136 deaths in 2020. For the purposes of the chart below the populations of the towns was calculated as follows . Villablanca 2,839, Ayamonte 20,883, Isla Cristina 21,077, Lepe 27,880, Cartaya 20,083.

Andalusia declared 1,237 today and 21 new hospitalizations. Sadly, there have been two deaths one in Malaga and the other in Seville.

Jaen declared the lowest number of cases (108) while Cordoba was next with 111. Malaga and Granada had the highest incidence with 209 and 195 respectively.

Huelva declared 126 cases and one new hospitalization and no deaths. The good news is that in Andalusia the number of cured cases (1,312) was superior to the new case (1,237). There are currently 893 Covid patients in Andalusian hospitals and 206 of those are in intensive care.
