Andalusia has reported a big drop in cases to 4,751 in the last 24 hours. Cadiz with 1,303 cases was the only province to break the thousand barrier today, Granada reported the lowest with 234 followed by Huelva with 287.
There is some more positive news and that is that 1,541 patients were declared cured. And the incidence rates have dropped in all of the towns in and around Ayamonte, see chart below.
Sadly, there were 82 more deaths declared today in Andalusia which brings the total number of deaths since the pandemic began in Andalusia to 6,050.
There are currently 4,119 patients in Andalusian hospitals with Covid-19 of which 570 are in intensive care. Today there are 243 people hospitalized in Huelva hospitals of which 22 are in intensive care. The hospitals and the ICU continue to see increases.
During the mass screening yesterday where 440 tests were carried out, six people tested positive. Ayamonte has seen a drop in the incidence for the first time in a week.
The Andalusian ministry for Health and Families announced today they are preparing for a foreseeable scenario whereby there are 7,500 COVID-19 patients in Andalusian hospitals at one time. At this moment in time there are 13,352 beds available in wards and another 1,462 in intensive care. The number of beds will be increased to 15,384 ward beds and 2,622 intensive care beds.
The Andalusian Health Board will achieve these numbers by send between 10 to 15 percent of patients to private hospitals. In Huelva the number of ward beds will increase from 955 to 1,013 while intensive care beds will increase from 68 to 107.
The Plan contemplates the provision of other assistance resources if necessary. These resources have clinical characteristics approved by different provincial evaluation committees and represent a total of 5,421 additional beds for all of Andalusia. Huelva will be able to activate an additional 763 beds located in a Hostel in Punta Umbria and Leo Aparthotel in Punta Umbria also.
