Huelva declared 10 new deaths today to Covid, the worst single day report since the Pandemic began. With today’s deaths Huelva now has a total of 176 deaths since the Pandemic began in March 2020.
Andalusia has reported a drop in cases to 3,676 in the last 24 hours. Seville with 851 cases was the worst hit province in the last 24 hours, Corboba reported the lowest with 2190 followed by Jaen with 265.
There is some more positive news and that is that 1,576 patients were declared cured.
As for incidence rate the Andalusian Health council have updated the population numbers with all the local towns showing an increase in population. Ayamonte for example have gone from a population of 20,946 to 21,104 (+158), this means although the total over 14 days has gone up from 405 to 408 the incidence rate stays the same at 1,933. Sadly, there were 82 more deaths declared today in Andalusia which brings the total number of deaths since the pandemic began in Andalusia to 6,217. There are currently 4,417 patients in Andalusian hospitals with Covid-19 of which 624 are in intensive care. Today there are 258 people hospitalized in Huelva hospitals of which 25 are in intensive care. The hospitals and the ICU continue to see increases.
The Portuguese Government has just announced that they will be closing their borders for the next two weeks as they extended their state of emergency after a parliamentary vote. It comes on a day that the Algarve declared 10 deaths in the last 24 hours. The Spanish minister for Foreign Affairs, Arancha Gonzalez, has said that is not really a closure of borders with Portugal but a temporal limitation of movement between the two countries. (Whatever that means).
