Tonight at 815pm the President of Spain, Pedro Sanchez announced that he would be asking to extend the state of emergency until midnight May 9th. He said that this was necessary to help safeguard all that has been achieved so far against this virus. He also said that children would see a change in the state of emergency come the 27th April as long as everything continues progressing. There have been calls from numerous organisations to allow children to go outside for a walk or exercise since the start of the lockdown. President Sanchez also said that the government had been studying how they will de-escalate the state of emergency and hinted that there will be various states of emergency with different rules and regulations as we return to somewhat of normality. He also pointed out that should there be a surge in cases that a stricter form of state of emergency would be enforced again.
Masks are going to part of our life for the foreseeable future and it is great to see that local companies like Camacho and Ayapunt which normally produce school uniforms making masks. Camacho alone have produced over 80,000 masks and have the capacity to make 7,000 masks per day. Camacho have donated more than 70,000 of these masks and will continue to do so in collaboration with Velcro Europe SA, IngoSur and TEFISA who supply the material, MWR and REDUR who transport the masks and material.
There has been a total of 4,499 new cases declared today and the total confirmed cases is now at 191,726. The number of deaths has now reached 20,043. The number of people who have recovered is 74,662.
Meanwhile in Andalusia there are 11,204 confirmed cases of which 5,341 have needed hospitalisation and 677 have needed intensive care. Andalusia has also found 381 cases where patients have little or no symptoms of Covid19. As of 21.00 yesterday there are 1,275 patients confirmed with Covid-19 in hospital and 304 of those are in intensive care. There have been 967 deaths (Malaga 217, Jaen 131, Granada 193, Cordoba 72, Cadiz 74, Seville 207, Almeria 41, Huelva 32). In Seville there are 2,299 cases and 1,016 of those required hospitalization with 136 in intensive care. There have been 207 deaths while 432 have recovered.
In Andalusia there have been a total of 967 deaths so far. A total 2,948 patients have recovered.
In Huelva there are 358 cases, this being an increase of 6 new cases today, 204 have been hospitalized with 29 in intensive care. Sadly, three new deaths were reported today bringing the total to 32. The good news is 107 have now recovered from the virus.
